I just moved out here from all over. Sorta from Portland. Sorta from San Fiasco.
It's very sleepy. Anything ever happen out here besides the occasional seasonal sales at the strip malls & some dude wearing a cow costume outside of chik-fil-a in the 100+ degree heat?
Any place to go see music? Or a good place to grab a pint of bitters? Or outdoor activities? Or people just hanging out being socialable people doing whatever?
Lerv,

Re: Anything ever happen in IE?
Wed, September 22, 2004 - 4:57 AMI wasn't exactly fond of the food there. But I have really high standards and I came from LA so I might be unfairly biased.
The dancers are great.
The rest I didn't stick around for so I can't vouch for or vote against the DJs. Hopefully the DJs there are better than the DJs in the rest of the IE. It seems the guys getting paid to DJ in the IE know less about mixing than 90% of the people I know. But again, it might be an unfair paradigm I'm viewing this all from.
But honestly, there HAS to be something other than Babylon. I mean seriously. This cannot be the only thing going on out here that we'd be keen to do. It'll work for some people but not everyone.
Of course, there is also the upcoming Drive in Movie thing coming up. Check the events let me know if you're coming. Get me your cash so I can get the grub.

Re: Anything ever happen in IE?
Wed, September 22, 2004 - 12:06 PMWe have at least two pubs in Riverside that are decent. Riverside Brewing Co is kinda meh, but I liked the Falconer and its got some fun ambiance. There is some sort of other icky 80's club night.
otherwise, its LA for me. The OC is not a bad drive on week nights. -

Re: Anything ever happen in IE?
Wed, September 22, 2004 - 12:44 PMThe Falconer is great. I loved going there when I could drink beer! Still do, though the mixed drinks can get a little pricey.

Re: Anything ever happen in IE?
Fri, September 24, 2004 - 5:23 PMRight on. Thanks for the pointers peoples. If anyone is planning a trip to a local watering hole & want to do a meet & greet that would be fun. I'm always up for meeting more good people.
I'm over in Chino Hills. I just found some brewery over in Brea. Can't remember the name, but they had decent beer, but the crowd left a bit to be desired. -

Fri, October 8, 2004 - 11:49 PMDarlin', I think you're primed for Babylon's! Devadasi is ONE HOT TROUPE. We just did a show tonite and we'll be back tomorrow nite. Lara (who is one of the dancers and a BM fiend) was just describing how the playa was laid out to us tonite, as a matter of fact. You gotta meet her - she is a beautiful, wonderful person.

Re: Anything ever happen in IE?
Wed, October 13, 2004 - 1:26 AMor maybe its better for some. But in general, guys got it a bit rougher when it comes to trust issues. Not fairly, but understandably.
So anyway Trip, how much do you charge? My fiancee is desperate for some massaging and I don't want a girl all over him, and he needs pressure anyway. We are broke like you wouldnt believe so it would need to wait for a payday with some left over after bills and it really can't be to expensive anyway, and it can't be at our apt. -

Re: Anything ever happen in IE?
Wed, October 13, 2004 - 2:34 AMI have a place of my own. We can schedule it during the times my roommate works and set up in my living room. This is where I've been working for the most part for a while (my car doesn't accommodate the size of my table). Took a break for a minute because I got tired of educating the clientele that I didn't spend 5k to give them a happy ending. My prices are flexible and I'm open to trade too.
Being beyond broke myself I understand the tune you're singing well. I can't imagine adding a child to the list of things that need financial attention. My hat is off to you both.
Talk to you soon.

Re: Anything ever happen in IE?
Thu, April 21, 2005 - 12:17 PMBest coffeehouses in my opinion are Back to the Grind and The Coffee Depot in Riverside. Both have live music,... Back to the Grind on its mezzanine and The Coffee Depot on its stage. In Redlands, I used to like Jazz & Java in the old Santa Fe Depot. But, I am curious about the new Gaslamp place on State Street.
Nearby, just off State Street, is The Royal Falconer, a great British pub that my British friends actually really like.
I have had mixed results at Babylon, too. The best Mediterranean food in the Inland Empire is actually at a tiny take-out place, Phoenicia, on Barton Road. Best Indian is at Ravi's in Colton and Taj Mahal in University Village in Riverside.
Some of my other favorite restaurants are Citrone, The Farm, and Joe Greensleeve's in Redlands, as well as Sevilla and Mario's Place in Riverside, and Napa 29 in Corona. Sevilla also happens to be a supper club, so you can get tapas with wine with dancing with full meals. And, floor shows are presented on the weekends. The Mission Inn also has a few top-notch restaurants.
Outdoor activities are excellent here, too. Some of my favorite parks and gardens include California Citrus State Historic Park in Riverside and Prospect Park/Kimberly Crest in Redlands. Smiley Park in Redlands is worthwhile, too, but is most notable for its free concerts performed by the Redlands Symphony in the summer at the Redlands Bowl and for the A.K. Smiley Library and the Abraham Lincoln Memorial Shrine. There are other symphony orchestras in San Bernardino, Claremont, and Riverside.
The U.C.R. Botanical Gardens are enormous and offer something a little more wild and informal. And, you can always visit the San Bernardino National Forest; Lake Arrowhead; Big Bear; Mt. Baldy; etc. If you would like a drive in the country, one of my favorites is through San Timoteo Canyon, also in Redlands. Temecula in Riverside County is also nice since it is the premier wine-growing region in the southern part of the state.
Victoria Gardens just opened last year in Rancho Cucamonga and it does a fairly good job of ridding itself of the mall-feel. The developers wanted an "instant Westwood", but I do not think the place achieves that goal. Still, it's an admirable effort. I just wish that they would have included more local businesses and fewer chains.
Redlands and Claremont have the university town feel that makes their downtowns great to explore on foot.
I also think that the new Casino San Manuel is worth visiting. It has a vague California Craftsman Bungalow design that houses a small, but nice lounge with nightly entertainment and an huge events center on the upper floor that has been fairly busy. The competing Morongo resort, in Cabazon, is promoting its clubs as being the equal of anything in L.A. or Vegas, but I haven't actually gone there for the nightlife, yet.
Glen Helen Pavillion in San Bernardino is the largest amphitheatre in the United States and used to host big-name acts all the time, but, lately, I have not been aware of much going on there.
