The Inland Orange Conservancy is trying to preserve groves in and around Redlands. And, donors to the Conservancy get a share of the crop every week. Redlands, Riverside, and the rest of the Inland Empire are fast being swallowed by urban sprawl and, in ten years, may look just like Orange County does today. I also started another tribe devoted to the subject as well as to the artwork used in local citrus crate labels at CaliforniaCitrus.tribe.net .

Re: Preserving Citrus-Growing in California
Mon, April 25, 2005 - 1:10 PMWhat an awesome thing this is... I called and offered to volunteer as I'm cash poor but the lady told me they were at the end of this season. She took my contact information and told me she'd call me when they have the start of the next season (she said a couple of weeks).
This is really something to support as the fragrance of oranges in bloom is one of the most beautiful scents I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing.
Sign up, volunteer (she said there are so few people volunteering they can always use help), eat local oranges.
